Guideline to Playing Rummy
- At the beginning of the game, you need to select the scorer and dealer of the game.
- The game begins with the equal distribution of cards. The dealer distributes the cards, known as hands, to each player depending upon the total number of players playing (refer to the above table for information on dealt cards and the deck used).
- Once the specific number of cards is distributed among players, the remaining cards are kept in the middle of the table to draw from. The card on top is opened and placed on top of the pile as the first of the discarded pile.
- The game commences with the player sitting on the left side of the dealer.
- Each player gets alternate chances to draw and discard cards. So, at every chance, players draw cards from the discarded pile and check whether the drawn card suits their needed set and sequence.
- If the card drawn is suitable, the player keeps it and discards an alternate card from his hand. If the card drawn is unsuitable, it is discarded, and the next player has the chance to pick it up or draw it.
- The game continues clockwise. If the pile runs out, the same pile is shuffled, and the game continues until a set and sequence are created based on the rummy variant you are playing.
